Starting a new job is always a daunting thing, from the onboarding and procedure to learning new software and meeting new people; people that you hope you will be working with for a long time to come.
After a string of bad luck during Covid, which not only me but many others have experienced, I have now found a place within Reward Agency where after my first week I believe I have found the next step and perfect position for myself moving forward in my career.
What led me to Reward?
Throughout the past year I became disconcerted with what I was doing in my career, helping large profit orientated companies make money. Not to be misunderstood, I love what I do, but I felt as though I needed to do something more. That’s when I found out about Reward Agency, a Certified B Corp transparent Marketing Agency who only collaborate and work with brands who focus on creating sustainable and ethical products.
My hopes have been answered. I found a company where I can continue to do what I am passionate about while working towards something which will better the world one day at a time. After my first week with Reward Agency I no longer feel unsure about my position and am excited to begin my new journey with this fantastic company.
How was my first week?
Monday morning consisted of me waking up early for the first time in a week, getting in my car and hitting the rush hour traffic to meet my new boss for the first time in person. Anticipation settled in my stomach as I pocketed my keys and headed into Costa, hoping not to embarrass myself and recognise what Mitchel White, the CEO and Managing Director of Reward, looked like.
I blinked and Monday was over, my laptop was set up and I was good to go for the week ahead. Throwing myself in the deep end, I thrive on taking myself out of my comfort zone and I enjoy the thrill of nerves and excitement that follows when I accomplish something. With this in mind, my first week whooshed by, and with the added benefit of the 4 day working week, I rounded off the week feeling energized for the weekend ahead and the new challenges that the following week would provide.
Overall, my first week with Reward Agency felt just like that, a reward.
The team is open and welcoming and I feel like I have already known them for years. The clients are interesting and well-rounded companies with a mission to help the world be a better place, and their mentality enthuses me with a want to do more in my personal life. In fact, I have already ordered a handmade eco-friendly recycled laptop cover from a small UK business, and am looking for ways to make an impact moving forwards.
It was a fantastic first week, with new challenges, good food and even greater chat. I am looking forward to the new experiences in the coming weeks, getting to know the team better and the fantastic opportunities to come. This new step in my career is fulfilling my passion for paid media and ppc but also enabling me to do work for a company which is striving to do good in the world. How lucky am I?
